Is it possible to hide folders on a 'work network drive' so that I don't have to see them.
It is a messy looking drive and the majority of the stuff I don't need to see. How can I hide it from me only (ideally without writing anything to the network drive.
For example without using setfile -a -V /VolumeA/thefile/
or without using chflags, etc.

Are you talking about hiding them from the desktop? If so
Finder -> Preferences -> General -> [_] Connected Server (uncheck the box)
Not from the desktop. When I go into the Network drive, there is lots of stuff that I just don't need to see. And to stop an accident deletes or dragging etc I thought maybe I could hide what I don't need to see.
No you cannot, as that would be a sitting on the server which would be affect to everyone, or depending on the server, the attribute you want to set is not honored by the server's file system.
The best you can do is create Aliases for all the folders you DO care about, and then access those folders via your Aliases and not look at General again.
